This year our first junior hurling team are competing in the Wicklow
schools league. Our opponents in the league are Coláiste Ráithín and St
Kilian’s Bray.
Considering we were only together for eight weeks prior to the game and some of us had not played a hurling game before., we got off to a great start against Colaiste Raithin which resulted in a draw.
We got straight back to training hard in preparation for an indoor hurling blitz. We were unfortunate not to beat St Kevin’s who came out the winners 6 goals to 4. Our second game against Avondale went down to the wire finishing 5 goals to our 4. However, we over turned the 2 previews defeats and won final game of the group. Our team showed great determination winning every ball which lead to an outstanding 6-2 victory.
We are really enjoying learning new skills and making new friends.
We are hoping to continue hurling in our future years in St Brendan’s and we aim to win the upcoming league competition.
